What is the NFT collection about?
So there I was, growing up with alpacas and llamas in the countryside. Those cuddly alpacas were all cute and stuff, but the llamas? 400-pound punks spitting at you and acting like they own the place. They'd stand tall, protecting herds of cows and sheep like some punk rock bodyguards.
Now, when the world went on lockdown, NFTs started taking off like crazy. I was an NFT rookie, but no stranger to the art world where I'd been working professionally. I watched as the world around me got colder and crueler, with laws being made to discriminate against people just being themselves. I knew the power of art – how it could change you, move you, and inspire you. Street art? Even more potent. Political, angry, funny, colorful, and accessible to everyone – no admission fees, just strolling by on your way to the tube.
That's when it hit me: NFTs could do so many things. They could create money for artists, bring people together in a community, and even spark change. They could be fun and turn art into something more – for me, that meant a cause, a movement, a way for people to stand up for what they believed in. And in the world of Web3, they could even stay anonymous, protected from places where speaking your mind could lead to terrible consequences.
Enter the Llama – the punk, the guardian, the protector – and the Herd, a collective that helps each other, sticks together, and fights off threats as a community, just like a DAO. The llamas were punks, but so was Web3. Cryptocurrencies, wallet addresses, and the freedom to create from wherever and whoever you were – that was punk as hell.
Punks are all about DIY. It's part of our ethos. So, as a punk, I learned what I could and put it to work. I assembled a badass team of talented individuals from all corners of the globe. An up-and-coming artist to do the drawings, a development team led by a seasoned engineer with a decade of experience. We're male, female, young, and old – all with punk hearts, even if the world sometimes represses our outward expressions.
I've been a vegetarian for ages – it's the ethical choice and, in the end, the healthiest. Plus, it's better for the planet, too.
Now we're gearing up to launch Lousy Llamas. We hope to unite a bunch of punks – people who want to stand up for themselves, their families, their partners, their world – and have a blast enjoying music, art, and discovering like-minded souls. We are dedicated to the liberation of all animals from exploitation, oppression, and cruelty. This includes abolishing the factory farming system, which confines, tortures and kills billions of animals yearly. The consumption of meat is a leading contributor to the climate crisis, and we believe that a plant-based lifestyle is the most sustainable and ethical choice.
Factory farming is a scourge on the planet.It's a system that treats animals like objects, pumping them full of antibiotics and hormones so they can grow faster, and then slaughtering them by the thousands in unsanitary conditions. It's an ecological disaster, and it's also contributing to the climate crisis.
The meat industry is responsible for more greenhouse gas emissions than the entire transportation sector. And it takes vast amounts of land and water to produce meat – land, and water that could be used to grow crops to feed people.
If we want to save the planet, we need to end factory farming. And the best way to do that is to switch to a plant-based diet.
